11.7m Tasman Rower

This innovative ocean rowing boat was designed and built with a record setting two way crossing of the Tasman Sea in mind.

The optimized trimaran hull arrangement contributes towards the excellent hull efficiency needed for a human powered vessel. The difficulty is that trimarans typically lack the ability to self-right; which is an important safety requirement for an ocean rowing vessel. Despite the challenging brief, LOMOcean successfully developed a design solution which incorporates the usual features found in an ocean rowing boat with a highly efficient and self-righting hull form.

Constructed in carbon and epoxy with foam core throughout, the vessel sports a dolphin inspired wave piercing bow to increase efficiency when going into wind and waves.

Accommodation spaces both forward and aft give the rower separate equipment and sleeping areas, while the cutout above the cockpit allows the rower to stand up for periods with full safety railing.
